Grimsby Farmers’ Market returns for Christmas
The Grimsby Farmers’ Market presents its annual Christmas Market on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Grimsby Senior Citizen’s Centre, providing locals one last chance to stock up on local food for the season.
Sip on a cup of hot cider as you stroll through the centre, taking in the offerings of the market vendors.
For your decorating needs there will be fresh garlands and festive tropical plants. For entertaining, there will be plenty of smoked meats and fresh cheeses, which pair well with artisan breads.
Don’t have time to bake this holiday season? The market will have a wide selection of baked foods from pies and cakes to cookies and candies.
It wouldn’t be a farmers’ market without local produce. Stock up on late season produce including apples — and cider of course — potatoes, cauliflower and more.
Sixteen of the market’s regular vendors will be participating in the Christmas market.
The market will also welcome Rose Cottage Visiting Volunteers, who will be showcasing their fundraising calendars, the Grimsby Archives, young artist Olivia Book and Forks Road Pottery, which will have a small sampling of their hand-made pottery for sale.
Market vendor Pat Johnston of Pies and Such will be offering tea, coffee and breakfast for a nominal charge in the kitchen.
The Christmas market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the senior centre, 18 Livingston Ave.
The Grimsby Farmers’ Market returns to downtown Grimsby May 30 and runs until Oct. 10. For more information on this special market event, visit www.grimsbyfarmersmarket.ca.
